Venus Diary 02

So what does a Venusian look like anyway? This was an important question, since I'd be drawing bunches of them. My immediate thought was bug people. Antenna? Hmm. Horns? Maybe. Mandibles? Creepy. Vestigial wings? They'd get in the way. Tails? Forgot about them, never made it to the drawing board.

After some back and forth about these sketch heads with Christine: "More pulp-y!" Me: "Yes I can draw delicate little butterfly antenna." We came up with the basics of Venusian anatomy. Girls look beautiful and human except for curly antennas. Men are manly men but have a carapace brow ridge and antenna/horns inspired by stag beetles.
