Marceline's Painting

So I have the hair brained idea of trying to make a comic adaptation of Medusa's Coil by H.P. Lovecraft's (co-written by/ghost written for Zealia Bishop). Which is one of the many of his stories I never heard about till I started listening to the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast. The story intrigues me because it is one of the few Lovecraft tales where there is an actual female character, plus it has a painting placed prominently  in the story.

The rough first idea of the painting here is based another horror fiction painting from the only episode of The Night Gallery I remember: The Cemetery. I remember it because it scared the crap out of me as a kid. As an adult it's a great piece of playful over acting from Roddy McDowall and a subdued bitterness from Ossie Davis. With a double twist ending that it doesn't need.

Speaking of extra twist endings, Medusa's Coil ends up having like four of them on to of it being a story within a story within a story. If I ever get around to drawing it I'm going to have to come up with a lot of dialog for the comic to work and need trim a few things creatively. Like the racism. :\
